Fuel Theft For Norfolk Haulier

May 20th, 2010 Comments off

Fuel theft is an issue for many businesses as one business recently found out. Thieves siphoned 2,000 litres of fuel from a number of Freight Force Distribution trucks  parked on their own premises  on a weekend in April this year.

This is the first time we have been attacked in our own yard. So obviously we have the cost of the stolen fuel hitting us, and then there is the fact the lorries were parked up while we had to replace the diesel, meaning we lost work time.  Nick Jolley, Operations Director

Jolley says the company is now aiming to invest  in extra security to prevent similar incidents occuring. One way of preventing such a crime is to invest in a anti-fuel theft device such as TP Anti-Syph, the device that prevents thieves from siphoning fuel from a vehicle.

Anti fuel theft device – false claims from TISS

March 1st, 2010 Comments off

UK Anti-Siphon Group have criticised press releases from TISS who are making false claims about their anti fuel theft device.

The Group which includes TruckProtect, aide automotive and Imexpart have released a statement in response to TISS press release.

The UK Anti-Syph Group states, “The recent TISS report points out that 8mm siphon tubes can pass through their fuel filling holes of their standard device, yet bizarrely, they claim it prevents fuel theft and is the best on the market.  This is a huge admission of test failure by TISS and a totally false report conclusion put into the press. Further, they falsely claim uniqueness and special claims for their floating ball device and when near identical devices are available in the market for half the price – and were not even included in their test.  The TISS press releases are an appalling distortion which misleads the transport sector”.

Fuel Theft’s Becoming Major Problem for Truck Drivers

February 8th, 2010 Comments off
Police are concerned about the safety of truck drivers following the increasing problem of fuel thefts from lorries parked in lay-bys. They have been warning truck drivers travelling through Neath, Port Talbot in an attempt to overcome the issue of fuel theft. Over 150 litres of fuel was siphoned from a lorry parked along the A465 as the driver slept.

Lorry driver Steven Orchard, 34, from Carmarthenshire, was parked on the same road at Resolven when his vehicle was targeted overnight, “Some lorries can hold 800 or 900 litres of diesel. It’s easy money,” he said. The Freight Transport Association (FTA) said truck drivers are popular targets for thieves and the Resolven incident was “not a rarity”. Don Armour, of the FTA, said: “Instances of fuel siphoning and general truck theft are all too common. Truck stop provision is pretty poor throughout the UK – there are basically none in mid Wales

The siphoning of fuel from trucks is a costly business in terms of stolen fuel, replacing that fuel and vehicle downtime. One way that companies can protect their vehicles against fuel theft is by a small investment in an anti fuel theft devices such as TP Anti-syph.
