Anti Siphon Devices Are A Cost Effective Purchase!

Following a 50% rise in fuel theft, police forces are warning people about the risks. Typical of these initiatives is the Kent Police websites fuel theft advice document, which strongly recommends the use of anti-siphon devices as one of the most effective measures to tackle this problem.

AROUND 1,000 litres of diesel have been stolen from a lorry at Gosberton Risegate.
The incident happened sometime between 6.15pm on Thursday and 8.30am on Friday the 6th of October, when thieves entered a commercial compound and siphoned 1000 litres of diesel from a lorry. Spalding Police are requesting anyone with information to ring 01775 722233

“With our anti siphon devices costing as little as £37.00, the forward thinking of fitting a device before £100’s is easily stolen must make sense.” Says Matthew Burke of aide automotive ltd

Fuel Theft – Bus driver admits £9k

aide automotive market products to prevent vehicle fuel theft.

A bus driver steels thousands of pounds of Fuel from Bakers Dolphin over a three-year period.

The accused was fired by the Weston-based coach firm after 38 years service once the theft was discovered in April.

Michael Collins, prosecuting, told magistrates at North Somerset Courthouse on Monday that the bus driver had prompted suspicion by turning up to work regularly 30 minutes before he was due to start at 5.30am.

He would fill jerry cans with diesel before driving them back in his bus to his home in Highbridge. Having dropped them off, he would then start working and his criminal activity was not spotted because the early start meant he was never late.

He was caught after the firm installed extra CCTV cameras to his vehicle and checked vehicle logging records.

Upon arrest, he admitted taking an estimated £9,000 worth of diesel.

Fuel Thefts in Hounslow

July 10th, 2013 Comments off

Hounslow has been reported as the worst London borough for Fuel Theft from vehicles.

This information is based on figures obtained from the Metropolitan Police.

The West London borough had a total of 175 reports between 2009 and 2012, but only five prosecutions.

Greenwich, Lewisham, Southwark and Merton also emerge in the top five boroughs for Fuel Theft.

The Met said the majority of thefts were from commercial haulage vehicles which were prominent in Hounslow.

It said the area served both Heathrow Airport and Central London and advised that parking goods vehicles in areas with good lighting and CCTV was the most effective way of reducing opportunities for thieves to syphon diesel.

Airtabs Are A Proven Fuel Reduction Product For Commercial Vehicles

aide automotive ltd are pleased to introduced a new product the range called “Airtabs”!

Airtabs are a revolutionary product to the commercial vehicle market and can on average offer a 2.5% saving on fuel!

Airtabs are patented, unique wishbone shaped vortex generators designed to increase vehicle aerodynamic performance and fuel economy by reducing aerodynamic pressure drag at two key locations; the tractor-trailer gap and the rear facing surface (the base area) of any commercial or private square backed vehicle or trailer that routinely attains highway speeds. Drag reduction and fuel economy benefits from Airtab application is not limited to commercial trucking operations. Airtabs enhance aerodynamic performance equally well on cube vans, straight trucks, expeditors, buses, flat beds and tankers.

The results may vary somewhat with vehicle type but the aerodynamic theory and principles are the same for all.

Airtabs are mounted 3 per linear foot, or every 4 inches on centre. Take the number of feet to be covered and multiply by 3 to give the number of Airtabs required. Airtabs are approximately (in inches) 3.5 wide, 5 long and 1 high.

Each Airtab creates two tight swirls of air or vortices that combine to reduce the suction and drag at the rear of vehicles travelling at speeds above approximately 35 mph or 55kmh. Airtabs are also effective at the rear roof lines of automobiles that have a rear window slope of greater than 30 degrees.

Matthew Burke Sales Director Stated “With today’s rising costs of fuel all companies need to review ways on reducing costs and AirTabs are the proven ideal tool. With an easy period pay back this product is for now and the future.”

UK testing has also taken place at Mira and a couple of prominent fleets in the UK have shown the results to be true.

Fuel Theft Accounted for Nearly Two-Thirds Of All Thefts In 2011.

Article Taken from Commercial Motor – dated 06.06.12

Some 4,417 freight crimes were reported to TruckPol in 2011, of which load theft (including fuel) and attempted load theft accounted for the majority (69%). Vehicle thefts represented 29% of the total, with the remainder made up of robbery, deception, warehouse robberies and hijacks Fuel theft accounted for nearly two-thirds (64%) of all thefts from LGVs last year with police recording 1,605 separate incidents in 2011. In its final set of freight crime statistics, compiled before its closure in March, TruckPol revealed the second most common theft was vehicle parts stolen from lorries (233 incidents), attributed to the high price of metal found inside components such as catalytic converters and batteries.

October 26th, 2011 Comments off

Hercules is a Skimming prevention anti syphon device from aide automotive ltd.

The Hercules Fuel Security and Safety Device is the only device to prevent ANY fuel loss due to its unique float-valve that allows fuel to flow into the tank, but locks off once filling is stopped, meaning no fuel can be siphoned.

Also the Hercules can reduce fuel spillage, stopping spiilages is good for the environment and safety on the road.

Fuel Theft Alarm TankGuard

June 29th, 2011 Comments off

With many years of experience of fuel theft issues regarding commercial vehicles, aide automotive is pleased to add a new product to prevent and stop fuel theft!

Tank Guard is designed to work in conjunction with your existing security devices such as locking fuel cap or anti-syphon device.

For simplicity of use, the Tank Guard will automatically arm after the ignition has been switched off for sixty seconds. Thereafter the ACTIVE DETERRENT will flash the strobe for seven seconds every minute in order to warn off potential thieves. This proven technique in crime reduction can have the effect of reducing the likely-hood of attack in the vehicle by at least eight fold!

Tank Guard also has sophisticated sensor fitted externally in a discreet location on the outside of the fuel tank. If thieves attempt to remove the locked cap, or jemmy out the sender unit or in any way attack the tank then the Tank Guard alarm will be activated. This will result in a 114 decibel siren or voice alarm giving a deafening warning along with a high intensity flashing strobe to drive the thieves away.

Tank Guard is a relatively easy aftermarket installation with the option of adding a second sensor for dual tank trucks.

Matthew Burke aide automotive’s sales director stated ” With marketing and selling anti syphon devices for 10 years to great effect in preventing fuel theft, truck operators have always requested further security around the tank, with this we believe the adding of a Tank Guard to a truck as well as an anti syphon device will 95 % prevent fuel theft and save hauliers hundreds if not thousands pounds. We have reviewed over many years alarm devices but until now could not find the cost affordable technology to make a product suitable for the market, with the cost of a Tank Guard at less than a third of a tank of fuel we believe this now is a product that truck operators can cost effectively purchase to protect against fuel theft.”

Tank Guard can be installed by a competent internal staff or an outsourced auto electrician.

Fuel Theft For Norfolk Haulier

May 20th, 2010 Comments off

Fuel theft is an issue for many businesses as one business recently found out. Thieves siphoned 2,000 litres of fuel from a number of Freight Force Distribution trucks  parked on their own premises  on a weekend in April this year.

This is the first time we have been attacked in our own yard. So obviously we have the cost of the stolen fuel hitting us, and then there is the fact the lorries were parked up while we had to replace the diesel, meaning we lost work time.  Nick Jolley, Operations Director

Jolley says the company is now aiming to invest  in extra security to prevent similar incidents occuring. One way of preventing such a crime is to invest in a anti-fuel theft device such as TP Anti-Syph, the device that prevents thieves from siphoning fuel from a vehicle.

PressurePro Sensors

April 2nd, 2010 Comments off

With the Easter holiday approaching, caravaners and motorhomers who have purchased a PressurePro system need to check their PressurePro wheel sensors are working corectly.

Matthew Burke Says “We always see an increase in replacement sensor sales before holiday periods but the Easter holiday is always a starting point for PressurePro users to check there sensors and order replacements. As caravans and motorhomes have been stored for quite a few months over the previous year and into the new year, sensors could have expired their battery life and require to be replaced.”
