Fuel theft devices to prevent the siphoning of fuel
Syphoning fuel from commercial vehicles is a costly problem for many businesses, so it’s essential to find the right fuel theft device. aide automotive were recently approached by Pullman Fleet Services to see if they had a solution enabling him to protect against fuel theft for their fleet of 400 Carrier and Thermoking refrigerated trailer tanks.
Although at that time there was not a device suitable for these particular vehicles. Pullman Fleet Services had not anticipated a new bespoke fuel anti-siphon device to be designed, manufactured, and delivered to his depot within 25 days! However aide automotive managed just this, through their supplier Truck Protect, its products now offer the most effective protection across a wide range of tanks and neck sizes. Clive Peachy of Pullman Fleet Services says,
The customer service was outstanding with regular director visits to site and I was able to satisfy DHL and Iceland with some superb, market-leading, cost effective ASDs. Seeing five companies working closely together was superb and demonstrates how a collaborative approach to a significant problem can produce quick and highly effective results.
This new product is called Reffer Syph and is available from aide automotive.
Anti-syphon devices stop thieves from siphoning fuel out of vehicles and are well worth the investment for any business as they can save hundreds of pounds of stolen fuel. There are a few devices on the market but aide automotive are delighted to launch the first that acts as a deterrent to fuel theft and fuel safety in one go!
With Corporate Responsibility being top of most organisation’s agendas these days, this device gives businesses the chance to comply. Diesel spillage is a dangerous problem. Diesel on the road can be as slippery as black ice and a potential hazard to most road users. Even a few litres can cause a potentially lethal accident. In the UK you can be fined £5,000, along with six points on your licence. You may also be liable for the costs of cleaning up the spill and repairing the road surface – and your insurance rating will suffer. The worst scenario can be a charge of corporate manslaughter.
The following accident statistics from the Department of Transport are only an indicator of the scale of the problem.
- 22 people have died on the roads between 2000 and 2005;
- 595 serious accidents on the roads between 2000 and 2005;
- 617 Killed or Seriously Injured accidents on the roads between 2000 and 2005;
- 3,020 accidents resulting in slight injury between 2000 and 2005;
- Oil / Diesel related accidents in 2005 have cost society £33,543,280

Fuel theft device that also prevents diesel spillage
Fuel theft is an expensive loss for any business but with fuel prices rising yet again, preventative measures to deter thieves are essential if businesses want to avoid the costs associated with such a theft. The theft of fuel from a vehicle doubles the cost of fuel with businesses paying out originally for the fuel, then again for a replacement tank!
The beginning of October sees the eighth fuel duty increase since March 2007 with another one planned for three months time. These rises make fuel theft more common as fuel becomes an even more valuable commodity.
Investment in a fuel theft device such as TP Anti-syph takes away these concerns of fuel theft. For a small investment you can save your business thousands of pounds in stolen fuel. This device is simple to fit, taking no more than a few minutes, with no drilling or gluing to a fuel tank.

Fuel theft common problem with fuel price hike
Fuel theft is an issue for many businesses as one business recently found out. Thieves siphoned 2,000 litres of fuel from a number of Freight Force Distribution trucks parked on their own premises on a weekend in April this year.
This is the first time we have been attacked in our own yard. So obviously we have the cost of the stolen fuel hitting us, and then there is the fact the lorries were parked up while we had to replace the diesel, meaning we lost work time. Nick Jolley, Operations Director
Jolley says the company is now aiming to invest in extra security to prevent similar incidents occuring. One way of preventing such a crime is to invest in a anti-fuel theft device such as TP Anti-Syph, the device that prevents thieves from siphoning fuel from a vehicle.
aide automotive stocks a number of fuel theft devices.

UK Anti-Siphon Group have criticised press releases from TISS who are making false claims about their anti fuel theft device.
The Group which includes TruckProtect, aide automotive and Imexpart have released a statement in response to TISS press release.
The UK Anti-Syph Group states, “The recent TISS report points out that 8mm siphon tubes can pass through their fuel filling holes of their standard device, yet bizarrely, they claim it prevents fuel theft and is the best on the market. This is a huge admission of test failure by TISS and a totally false report conclusion put into the press. Further, they falsely claim uniqueness and special claims for their floating ball device and when near identical devices are available in the market for half the price – and were not even included in their test. The TISS press releases are an appalling distortion which misleads the transport sector”.
