Travis Perkins, one of the UK’s leading Builders’ Merchants, with more than 600 outlets across the country, was looking for an effective solution to the growing problem of fuel theft.

As the company runs one of the largest vehicle fleets in the country, preventing fuel theft and keeping costs to a minimum was a top priority and it investigated an anti fuel theft device.

Requiring no drilling or gluing, it is simple to fit in several minutes and it can also cope with fast-filling of fuel tanks at speeds of up to120 ltrs/min without spilling or splash backs.

Travis Perkins Group Transport Manager Graham Bellman said: “Fuel theft is a problem, and it impacts directly upon our bottom line.

“You cannot stop the most determined of fuel thieves, but this anti fuel theft device provides a valuable defense, and a positive deterrent against fuel skimming.

“Coupled with our other security measures, and very careful fuel use monitoring, a good anti-siphon device offers very definite protection against a problem that is getting more, rather than less, pronounced.

”It is a very simple, but extremely worthwhile product that, for a very modest outlay, can save a lot of money.”

Lincolnshire Police Warn of Increasing Fuel Thefts

September 15th, 2009 Comments off

Lincolnshire Police have urged businesses and individuals with large diesel stores to tighten security as the trend for fuel thefts gathers pace.

With the tax in fuel increasing in the recent months a spate of fuel thefts have been reported.

Spokesman for Lincolnshire Police James Newall said: “With oil and diesel prices rising, we are seeing a re-emergence of the trend for fuel thefts. “We do suffer from it quite badly. A lot of it involves criminals travelling in from neighbouring counties. “Commercial yards with a lot of vehicles are quite vulnerable. “It was a huge problem last year, but when prices dropped, so did the crime. “But it seems to have taken off again.”

Criminals crept on to the remote Rutland Oil Services site in Kings Cliffe Road, Wansford, near Peterborough, after workers had locked up for the weekend on Saturday, at 12.30pm. And on August 12, crooks broke into a vehicle compound in Frognall, near Market Deeping, to siphon diesel from fuel tanks.

Fuel Hike Means its Hard

July 26th, 2009 Comments off

The Road Haulage Association says in the past few weeks hauliers have had an extra £1,000 a truck slapped on to their annual fuel bill.

“On 22 April 2009, the Chancellor told us he expected energy prices to come down,” said Kate Gibbs, head of communications for the RHA.  “The opposite happened.”  She says this adds more weight to the RHA’s case to drop the planned two pence a litre duty hike in September.  If it goes ahead, Gibbs says the third rise in nine months will equate to fuel tax rise of 12%.

The RHA says this will hurt already hard-pressed hauliers.  “The health of the UK road freight industry is key to the recovery of UK plc.  The healthier the industry, the more rapidly the economy will recover.  Surely the Chancellor realises that?”

With fuel prices increasing all the time hauliers should review the aide automotive TP Anti Syph to stop fuel theft.
