Introducing TestaTow, the 12 Volt portable trailer wiring tester designed for small semi-trailers, including Ifor Williams, horse boxes, agricultural trailers, and caravans. This convenient and well-constructed tester is available in two options: standard and Agri TestaTow, which includes an ISO ABS warning light test. With its wide compatibility, TestaTow can test towing bars on 13-pin or 7-pin socket versions. The tester comes in a tough carry case, making it easy to transport and store. From large fleet companies to individual maintenance engineers, TestaTow is the go-to solution for efficient and reliable trailer wiring testing.
Portable 24 Volt Power Box with auto light test for testing your trailer electrical system.
Designed to enable one operator to test the complete trailer lighting system without the need to connect a tractor unit, using the 24N and 24s power sockets, and to test the ABS warning lamp function on the trailer using the ISO 7638 socket.
Using the remote control feature of the Trailer Master, makes testing trailer lighting systems less time consuming, alternatively operate form the face panel for auto test mode.
Charging the tester is very straightforward. Plug it into the mains and even if the unit is turned off the tester will charge the internal batteries from discharged to fully recharged in under two hours.
When the unit is turned on, you can quickly see how much power is still available, by the easy-to-read battery level meter.
aide automotive explained how it is optimising the performance of its products through recent investment in its in-house technological capability.
“Technology moves at pace and we are always looking how it can apply new tech to enhance their range of safety braking products,” said the company.
It has used millimetre wave radar for some years now, but as electronic components become smaller and smarter, it has continually moved with the times. Now, having invested in new machinery to assist with the placement of extremely small components onto circuit boards, the company says it is able to redesign and produce new boards to harness the power of the very latest electronic components and constantly improve the performance of products.
Among the safety braking products supplied by aide auto is CV Stop, which can automatically apply a vehicle’s brakes to prevent accidents if objects are detected in its path.
“The auto braking system – which is unaffected by rain, dust, snow or ice – has sensors fitted to both front and rear of the vehicle,” said aide automotive.
“These sensors constantly build up a picture of everything within its 50m range… Any object detected by the radar is checked for distance, angle and closing speed and based on this, the system informs the driver using a display and buzzer.
“If the driver ignores the warnings as the object/person gets into its danger zone, then the brakes automatically apply. The vehicle is then held stationary, giving the driver time to check mirrors and cameras to see if it is safe to carry on reversing or exit the cab to inspect the area.”
Commercial Vehicle can be individually programmed for each type of body fitted, which can include road sweepers, tar sprayers, refuse collection vehicles or any special-bodied vehicle such as a fire truck.
“CAN communication is standard, so it both listens and talks to the vehicle electronics allowing CV Stop to operate as one with other vehicle safety systems,” added the company
“Event or error data is also output to MDVR vehicle camera recorders, so if there’s an incident, we have an onscreen marker of how the system reacted, while you’re watching actual video footage. This vital safety feedback allows operators to examine in detail any near miss in the operating environment and provides hard evidence should it be required.”
With this tester you can identify common wiring faults to the NOx Sensor.
I will list a few common causes that you should be able to easily identify and then carry out a repair to the wiring based on your findings.
This tool is to aid you in your diagnosis, it will not let you the NOx sensors faulty. Unfortunately, we still have to a little bit of work to identify our fault. Which can be……
1.Short circuits: When wires to the NOx sensor touch each other in the harness (short to power) or with a rub through to touch the chassis (short to ground), it can cause a short circuit. This can lead to electrical malfunctions, blown fuses, or even electrical fires.
Image of a short to ground on the VOLTS supply. The NOx sensor tool is plugged in BUT no voltages are displayed which is usually identified by checking the fuse in the fuse box for a blown fuse.
Short to power faults can be identified on CAN-H and CAN-L by checking for voltage exceeding 2.8 volts.
2. Open Circuit: This is an example of an open circuit on CAN-H and CAN-L. An open circuit will not blow a fuse, but it will prevent the circuit from functioning. An open circuit may occur if a wire breaks, a wiring connector is loose or unplugged, or severe corrosion inside an electrical connector has created so much resistance that current cannot flow through the circuit.
3. High Resistance: Corrosion is a common cause of high resistance in electrical circuits. Which can be identified by green oxidised pins and terminals.
Corrosion can be caused by moisture that attacks electrical connectors and terminals in the electrical system. This is often displayed with low voltage readings on the VOLTS display. The vehicle should be outputting nearly 28 volts when running and around 24 volts with the ignition on. The measurement on VOLTS can be checked against your battery voltage to confirm the voltage is correct. If a large difference is noted, you could possibly have a resistance issue in your wiring harness which will need further investigation.
The same applies to your CAN-H and CAN-L, if you’re seeing voltages that are lower than 2 volts for CAN-H and CAN-L these wires will require further investigation and checking for resistance with the ignition off.

Section 5 on decelerometer testing and Temperature testing: It is acceptable to use an approved and calibrated decelerometer to measure overall brake efficiency values for rigid vehicles without trailers or for vehicles that cannot be tested on an RBT.
A decelerometer will measure the overall brake efficiency but it may not identify individual braking issues. A temperature check needs to be carried out at the same time as a decelerometer test to help identify if individual brakes are operational.
Brake temperature readings would need to be well above ambient temperature with relatively consistent readings taken for each brake across an axle. Brakes which are cold (ambient temperature) or showing an inconsistent reading from the brake on the opposite side on the same axle, need to be investigated further.
